LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/mary-rieser-heintjes/59/3a3/8
- 1979 PRATT BFA AND
- 1985 Pratt MFA Fine Arts alum
- Artwork created in stained glass, painting and photography
- Discovered digital photography in the 90’s and moved away from darkroom processing
- Emphasis that her work is ‘what you see is what you get’ with no Photoshop interventions
Working digitally was more of a survival issue for Mary. She transitioned from traditional fine art photography out of need, affordability and she has historically taught herself new technology to enhance both her creative and personal life.

“My work is about translation, and interpreting expressions. It investigates the duality of love and wisdom: mind vs. heart. It offers a narration from two perspectives; our instinctive, emotional reaction as well as the response shaped by our surroundings. Based in various environments; iconography, symbolism and visual social semiotic tools play a major role in shaping the content of my narratives. My experiences in the two-dimensional world of print and digital media have led me to explore 3D modeling and rendering effects.”
Soum Ghosh
- 2011 Pratt undergraduate Communications Design alum
- Background in textile deseing and visual communications
- Has worked in the Pratt Alumni Relations and Publications offices, which he considers the best jobs he has ever had – he loved them!
“I work as a back-end Java developer/server side programmer/ process architect for a global fashion retail company. My projects range from architecting implementation process for web and mobile e-commerce based applications to designing and developing user flow for and API usage platform. I have a huge advantage when it comes to communicating complex technical ideas to stake holders. I find it very easy to visually illustrate process and to put things in their context.”
Hannah Mishin
- Pratt undergraduate in Painting and History of Art & Design alum
- Practicing artist in NYC for 10 years; the past three years she transitioned from painting and work in paper to a focus on new technology
- About to complete a MPS at NYU Tisch in Interactive Telecommunications; emerging technologies
“I have been coding for physical objects (physical computing), coding for digital fabrication techniques and using electronic components to create projects. I am interested in these things because I think they are more successful at engaging, in provocative ways, the public.”
Gretel Schwartzott
LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/gretel-schwartzott/26/270/6b9
- 2002 Pratt Masters in Industrial Design alum
- Studied sculpture (BFA) and began freelancing as an architectural model-maker
“Digitizing work is a great way to create objects that can be quickly scaled and remade infinitely off one file. It speeds up production if a project requires more than one product in more than one scale. I also utilize it as a tool- often bringing 2D files into 3D, or 3D files to 3D reality. I love creating puzzles and kits to recreate actual architecture, topography or products... creating objects, furniture, books, toys, jewelry....”
